What a hectic few weeks its been!
A hospitalised fil, a stressed out husband, tantrum-laden
toddlers, and a scary cholesterol blood test is basically describes my last 2
weeks.
Thankfully the fil seems to be on the road to recovery, so
that should dissipate the hubby’s stress levels a bit.
The cholesterol levels however, have resulted in a very firm
self –evaluation both on diet and exercise regime…or rather, lack of I should say.
I can now say quite proudly that hubby and I are now members of a gym! I’ve
also been doing quite a bit of reading on the net about cholesterol and how it
sneakily can cause heart attacks or worse strokes. This silent killer has very
alarming statitistcs to say the least. Very very scary!!
So I’’ve thrown out all the biscuits, white bread, pasta,
crisps etc, and filled the pantry with whole-wheat pasta, tuna, and stocked the
fridge with fruit and veggies…
The other big no-no is high stress levels. I came across this beautiful pic while trying
to surround myself with calming, zen-like memorabilia around my laptop. I loved it so much, its now featured as my
desktop wallpaper.

I must say, it has been fascinating going to the gym…my old
pastime of people watching has been resurrected! Its amazes me, that the
majority of the women that I see at gym are the really skinny, toned women that
look like they are brand ambassadors for
fitness brands, and that all they are doing at gym is modelling the stylish gym
clothes. Are these women in such good shape because they are regulars at gym…and
their figures are the result of months and months of training ?....Or is it
because they just simply don’t want to add on tyres around their middles, and
so are at gym as they are maintaining those figures? Im holding onto the first thought
as my inspiration to keep at it….
I must also selfishly admit, that Im actually enjoying the
me-time at the gym….just to collect my thoughts, stare blankly at the tv on the
treadmill, and cast glances at the stangers panting away on their machines….reminds
me of a time, when I actually had time to spare to think about absolutely
nothing….
